A WHOLE NEW TYPE OF PASTA
A while ago we came up with the idea of modernizing the good old pasta, with an extra special JIMINI'S ingredient. And now we have finally taken the plunge! We’re delighted to introduce you to discover our delicious new pasta, enriched with insect flour! With its 18.7% natural protein and three ingredients (buffalo worm flour, durum wheat and eggs), you can simply cook the pasta with some vegetables or in a sauce, to have everything you need for a balanced meal.
And that’s not all! 86% of the ingredients used to make our pasta comes from organic farming. Why 86%? Basically because the whole insect powder that we use to enrich our protein pastes is not certifiable in Europe, just like all insects. The reason for that? The certification bodies don’t yet have specifications for insect breeding and therefore do not agree to certify insect producers. Fortunately things are moving in the right direction; Canada has recently issued the first certificates for the production of organic insects, they’re just not recognized in Europe yet.
INTRODUCING THE BUFFALO WORM
For this exciting new range we’ve welcomed a new insect to the JIMINI’S family, to keep our grasshoppers, crickets and mealworms company. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for the Buffalo Worm! He’s a small cousin of the flour worm, who is rich in proteins (55% protein in the form of whole powdered insect ), contains all essential amino acids and is a source of iron. Its scientific name is Alphitobius diaperinus, but that’s just too formal. As usual at JIMINI'S, we have chosen to only use European insects, to ensure the best quality and traceability on our products.
PROTEIN, BEFORE AND AFTER SPORT
So what's the difference with classic pasta? Protein of course! While the protein level of conventional pasta is around 10g before cooking, JIMINI'S insect pasta exceeds 18%. By way of comparison, a soy bean steak contains about 15% protein. The pasta’s ideal for a pre sports session. They combine complex carbohydrates for a progressive release of energy throughout the effort, as well as highly assimilable proteins for muscle recovery, which also makes it great for post workout. The combination of the protein, complex carbohydrate and the fibers lower the glycemic index of your meal which will provide satiety and a steady flow of nutrients into your body.

MY FIRST EDIBLE INSECT WITH JIMINI'S
The first time you want to eat an edible insect (and it won’t be the last, I swear) it’s with JIMINI’S!
First, make sure you’re not allergic to insects. Indeed, edible insects are like all the other food with allergens.
You may be surprised to learn, but edible insects are part of the crustacean family, like seafood (crabs, shrimps, prawns) so if you have a shellfish allergy then Jimini’s are not for you.
For those of you who are not allergic to any of these little creatures, you now have no excuse: you must eat an insect!
Edible insects for everyone
But which one?! A grasshopper? Too big for a first time! A cricket? Why not!
May be you decide to try the Mealworms, our delicious mealworm, seasoned with garlic and herbs!
At first, you look at them in their little packet, fascinated like an inquisitive child but not very confident. You want to try them! You MUST try them!
The first thing you notice is it’s quite crispy, then you taste a touch of garlic and herbs… Yum, edible insects are absolutely delicious!
Now you want to try another one, you decide to taste a grasshopper. Bigger, more imposing, but also crispier and tastier!
Since then you have never looked back. You love JIMINI’S little edible insects! Each time you’re invited to a friends’ house, you make them try a mealworm, a cricket or even a grasshopper with so many flavours to choose from Sesame & cumin, Imperial soy, garlic & herbs, BBQ, sweet mango, fruity curry, paprika, Greek herbs, pepper & dried tomatoes…
You’ve done it! Congrats! But, if you take the time to think about it, you’ll see that edible insects are finally like crustaceans from earth (not a coincidence if we compare grasshoppers to the prawns) and not worst than the oysters, snails, raw meat and raw fish… Hopefully, JIMINI’S is here to educate our mind!
Now that you’re an experienced entomophagous, which one of these edible insects do you prefer? Inspire your friends and make them eat an insect!
